One of the most valuable assets of a Sophisticated Gentleman is a good tailor. For years I frequented (at least once a week) a tailor in downtown Los Angeles, but too often I was having to return 2 and 3 times to have an item properly finished. A relationship with a poor tailor is like a poor relationship with your girlfriend or wife; we know it's not beneficial, and that it has ran its course, but we get comfortable with the familiar, good or bad. This relationship was not good! Well, about two years ago I found the most amazing tailor around; Mr. Benny Spatola of Spatola Tailoring. If you can't afford custom-made clothing then a personal tailor is definitely the second best option. And as the saying goes, Benny "is your man." In my search for the "perfect fit" (in my clothing and my tailore) I've learned that length of service does not equal quality of service. But, Benny's 34 years in business has made for a long list of satisfied and, I'm certain, repeat customers. He's located directly across the street from Nordstroms at South Coast Plaza. It's nearly an hour from my doorstep to his, but well worth the drive.

WARNING: Benny is the quintessential Italian gentleman: Gregarious, well-dressed and the biggest flirt with the ladies. Oh, how I envy him.
