Card Pool is but one of many new websites that has appeared in the last couple of years, which allows you to either exchange an unwanted gift card for a card from a store of your choice or opt for a cash redemption. A week ago, I sent in a $150.00 GAP gift card and received my check of $120.00 in the mail today. While the surcharges seem a little high on some sites (between 10-40%), it still beats having a gift card sitting in my junk drawer for another 3 years.
